A top price for Wang Qiumei
When the work Correspondences by Wang Qiumei was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in September last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than nine times as high at HKD 189,000.00 (€ 24,593.38). This high result makes Correspondences the most expensive artwork by Wang Qiumei that we have observed at auctions so far.
