It achieved a price of HKD 25,000.00 (€ 2,831.77), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Mengbai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work DEUX EVENTAILS, ENCRE OU ENCRE ET COULEUR SUR PAPIER, which sold at auction in June 2015 for EUR 8,125.00.

Die Arbeit Parrot on a Tree Branch von Wang Mengbai wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center bei Christies versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 25.000,00 (€ 2.831,77) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Für andere Arbeiten von Wang Mengbai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit DEUX EVENTAILS, ENCRE OU ENCRE ET COULEUR SUR PAPIER beobachtet, die im Juni 2015 für EUR 8.125,00 versteigert wurde.
