The work Yellow Bird and Rock by Wang Mengbai was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in June 2020. The auction ended at the price of HKD 30,000.00 (€ 3,445.82), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Mengbai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work DEUX EVENTAILS, ENCRE OU ENCRE ET COULEUR SUR PAPIER, which sold at auction in June 2015 for EUR 8,125.00.
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Yellow Bird and Rock von Wang Mengbai kam im Juni 2020 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 30.000,00 (€ 3.445,82) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Wang Mengbai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit DEUX EVENTAILS, ENCRE OU ENCRE ET COULEUR SUR PAPIER beobachtet, die im Juni 2015 für EUR 8.125,00 versteigert wurde.
