NOTE:
Having returned to China from France in 1929, Wang composed the poem during the formation of the Nationalist Government in Guangzhou in May 1931. The dedication to “Third Sister” refers to Zeng Xing, the older sister of Wang’s close friend and associate Zeng Zhongming. A lifelong friend to Wang Jingwei and Chen Bijun, Zeng Xing was an early member of the Tongmenghui. She devoted her life to revolutionary activities and served in Wang’s Nanjing Government during the 1940s.

Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Poem from Shuangzhaolou – Floating Petals by Wang Jingwei was worth HKD 375,000.00 (€ 42,819.95) to a buyer in May 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Modern Paintings at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 90,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Jingwei - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Poems Of Shuangzhaolou, which sold at auction in May 2019 for HKD 1,062,500.00 (€ 121,602.83).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Die Arbeit Poem from Shuangzhaolou – Floating Petals von Wang Jingwei war einem Käufer im Mai 2017 HKD 375.000,00 (€ 42.819,95) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern Paintings bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 90.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Wang Jingwei mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Poems Of Shuangzhaolou beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für HKD 1.062.500,00 (€ 121.602,83) versteigert wurde.
