The work Materialist by Wang Guanyi was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2005. It achieved a price of HKD 456,000.00 (€ 47,486.92), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 52%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Wang Guanyi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Nike sold at auction in November 2005 with the realized price of HKD 720,000.00 (€ 78,778.63).

Die Arbeit Materialist von Wang Guanyi kam im Mai 2005 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 456.000,00 (€ 47.486,92) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 52%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Wang Guanyi; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Nike im November 2005 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 720.000,00 (€ 78.778,63).
