A top price for Wang Chen
When the work Rivers Xiao and Xiang by Wang Chen was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 350,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than ten times as high at HKD 3,725,000.00 (€ 432,031.04). This high result makes Rivers Xiao and Xiang the most expensive artwork by Wang Chen that we have observed at auctions so far.
