Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2012 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings, which included the work Waringin Mit Zwei Jungen Baliern (Banyan With Two Young Balinese) by Walter Spies. The price achieved of HKD 9,620,000.00 (€ 937,348.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 6,500,000.00 – 11,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Spies - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Blick Von Der Höhe (A View From The Heights), which sold at auction in October 2013 for HKD 31,480,000.00 (€ 2,987,288.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2012 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Waringin Mit Zwei Jungen Baliern (Banyan With Two Young Balinese) von Walter Spies zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 9.620.000,00 (€ 937.348,25) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 6.500.000,00 – 11.500.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Spies mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Blick Von Der Höhe (A View From The Heights) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2013 für HKD 31.480.000,00 (€ 2.987.288,51) versteigert wurde.
