The work Four young Balinese with fighting cocks by Walter Spies was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art auction at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2005. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 900,000.00 (€ 98,473.28), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Spies achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blick Von Der Höhe (A View From The Heights) in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 31,480,000.00 (€ 2,987,288.51).

Die Arbeit Four young Balinese with fighting cocks von Walter Spies wurde im November 2005 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 900.000,00 (€ 98.473,28) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Spies erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blick Von Der Höhe (A View From The Heights) im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 31.480.000,00 (€ 2.987.288,51).
