The work Four young Balinese with fighting cocks by Walter Spies was sold in the SOUTHEAST ASIAN PICTURES AND 20TH CENTURY INDIAN PICTURES auction at Christies in Singapore in April 2001. The »bidding war« ended at SGD 96,350.00 (€ 59,618.87), 38% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Spies achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blick Von Der Höhe (A View From The Heights) in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 31,480,000.00 (€ 2,987,288.51).
