The work The Hay Cart by Walter Shirlaw was sold in the American Paintings auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2011. The result of USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,349.44) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Walter Shirlaw have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mother And Daughter in March 2005 with an auction result of USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,476.98).
