Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Native American Hunter on Horseback sight 20 1/2 x 14 1/2 in. framed 32 x 26 in. by Walter Shirlaw was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 435.20 (€ 398.97). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Shirlaw achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mother And Daughter in March 2005 with an auction result of USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,476.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Native American Hunter on Horseback sight 20 1/2 x 14 1/2 in. framed 32 x 26 in. von Walter Shirlaw im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 435,20 (€ 398,97) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Shirlaw erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mother And Daughter im März 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.400,00 (€ 6.476,98).
