Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Woman Of The Empire by Walter MacEwen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 26,379.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter MacEwen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Girl Standing with Book, which sold at auction in June 2000 for USD 82,250.00 (€ 86,170.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Woman Of The Empire von Walter MacEwen zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 26.379,87) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter MacEwen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Girl Standing with Book beobachtet, die im Juni 2000 für USD 82.250,00 (€ 86.170,77) versteigert wurde.
