This artwork by Walter John Beauvais achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2006. In the British and Continental Pictures auction, the work A hot summers day, Deauville sold for GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,495.02) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 400.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Walter John Beauvais; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A bustling Mediterranean beach; and Another similar sold at auction in January 2002 with the realized price of GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,702.75).
