Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Study of Endymion, for 'Diana and Endymion' by Walter Crane was sold in the Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector auction at Christies in London in September 2016. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,763.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Crane achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Fate of Persephone that fair field Of Enna, where Proserpine, gathering flowers, Herself a fairer flower, by gloomy Dis Was gathered. (Paradise Lost, Book IV, lines 268-71) in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 424,650.00 (€ 656,837.38).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Fate of Persephone that fair field Of Enna, where Proserpine, gathering flowers, Herself a fairer flower, by gloomy Dis Was gathered. (Paradise Lost, Book IV, lines 268-71) im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 424.650,00 (€ 656.837,38).
