Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work The Sleeping Beauty by Walter Crane. Here, the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,761.02). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Crane achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Fate of Persephone that fair field Of Enna, where Proserpine, gathering flowers, Herself a fairer flower, by gloomy Dis Was gathered. (Paradise Lost, Book IV, lines 268-71) in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 424,650.00 (€ 656,837.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Sleeping Beauty von Walter Crane zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.761,02) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Crane erzielen.
