Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spanish Spinner; and Child Sweeping, Spanish Village, 1951 by W. Eugene Smith was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in February 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,226.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by W. Eugene Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Walk to Paradise Garden, 1946 in October 2016 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,892.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Spanish Spinner; and Child Sweeping, Spanish Village, 1951 von W. Eugene Smith wurde im Februar 2006 in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.226,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von W. Eugene Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Walk to Paradise Garden, 1946 im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.500,00 (€ 47.892,72).
