Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by W. Eugene Smith could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in December 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Photographs from the Ginny Williams Collection auction, the work Guardia Civil, Spain changed hands for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,090.76) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by W. Eugene Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Walk to Paradise Garden, 1946 in October 2016 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,892.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von W. Eugene Smith konnte im Dezember 2020 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Photographs from the Ginny Williams Collection wechselte die Arbeit Guardia Civil, Spain für USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.090,76) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von W. Eugene Smith erzielen.
