Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Mother Afrodita by Vojtěch Kovařík was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in June last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 300,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 945,000.00 (€ 114,999.52). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vojtěch Kovařík - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Aphrodite, which sold at auction in May this year for USD 378,000.00 (€ 354,796.32).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Mother Afrodita von Vojtěch Kovařík im Juni letzten Jahres bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 300.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 945.000,00 (€ 114.999,52) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Vojtěch Kovařík mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Aphrodite beobachtet, die im Mai diesen Jahres für USD 378.000,00 (€ 354.796,32) versteigert wurde.
