Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Russian Black And Gold. Landscape by Vladimir Ovchinnikov was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 43,750.00 (€ 33,033.83). Other works by Vladimir Ovchinnikov have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2007 by the work Before The Celebration, After The Celebration at GBP 43,200.00 (€ 64,042.45).
