Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work View of a street in a souk with a woman carrying a fruit basket on her head, a carpet stall behind by Vittorio Rappini for GBP 119.50 (€ 169.13). This price was achieved in the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES & DRAWINGS at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vittorio Rappini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Playing a tune in a harem; The carpet seller; and a bustling street, Cairo in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,505.26).
