This artwork by Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Rome in December 2002. In the DIPINTI E DISEGNI ANTICHI auction, the work Caccia al cervo in un paesaggio piemontese con un castello nello sfondo sold for EUR 150,620.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Paesaggio fluviale con ponte e viandanti; e Paesaggio fluviale con viandanti sold at auction in November 2007 with the realized price of EUR 201,800.00.
