Despite a disappointment, a good price for Vittore Crivelli
When the work Saint Jerome In The Desert by Vittore Crivelli was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 68,500.00 (€ 52,374.03). Despite this disappointing result, Saint Jerome In The Desert is the most expensive artwork by Vittore Crivelli that we have observed at auction so far.
