A top price for Virginia Berresford
When the work Lower Manhattan by Virginia Berresford was auctioned at Christies in New York in April this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 7,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at USD 47,880.00 (€ 43,369.57). This high result makes Lower Manhattan the most expensive artwork by Virginia Berresford that we have observed at auctions so far.
