Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Peasants merry-making in an inn by Victor Mahu was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,190.00 (€ 9,621.14) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Victor Mahu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Interieur mit einem Alchemisten und seinen Mitarbeitern, which sold at auction in November 2021 for EUR 37,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Peasants merry-making in an inn von Victor Mahu kam im März 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.190,00 (€ 9.621,14) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Victor Mahu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Interieur mit einem Alchemisten und seinen Mitarbeitern beobachtet, die im November 2021 für EUR 37.500,00 versteigert wurde.
