Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Umberto I, King of Italy (1844-1900), in black coat with red-bordered silver collar, wearing the gold jewel and breast star of the Royal Sardinian Order of the Most Sacred Annunciation, the blue and red striped moiré sash of the Military Order of Sa by Ventura Domenico was sold in the THE COLLECTION OF S.A.R. LA PRINCIPESSA REALE DI SAVOIA auction at Christies in London in April 2005. The price achieved of GBP 420.00 (€ 621.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ventura Domenico - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Young Lady, Seated In A Floral Embroidered Armchair, which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 1,062.50 (€ 1,443.76).
