Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Campesinos Vascos (Basque Peasants) by Valentín de Zubiaurre was sold in the European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting auction at Sothebys in London in November 2008. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,335.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Valentín de Zubiaurre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Spanishcampesinos Vascos (Basque Peasants) in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 72,500.00 (€ 101,518.76).
