In May 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings, which included the work David With The Head Of Goliath by Valentin de Boulogne. The »bidding war« ended at USD 490,000.00 (€ 440,053.88), 63% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Valentin de Boulogne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Crowning With Thorns in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 5,178,000.00 (€ 4,780,280.65).
