This artwork by Utagawa Toyokuni achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March last year. In the Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg auction, the work The actors Segawa Kikunojo and Arashi Hinasuke sold for USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,770.58) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Toyokuni have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Edo Period (1615-1868), Early 19Th Century in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 44,062.50 (€ 38,060.38).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Utagawa Toyokuni erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg wurde die Arbeit The actors Segawa Kikunojo and Arashi Hinasuke für USD 5.292,00 (€ 4.770,58) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyokuni auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Edo Period (1615-1868), Early 19Th Century im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.062,50 (€ 38.060,38).
