Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Five woodblock prints by Utagawa Toyokuni was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Bonhams in New York in March last year. It changed hands for a price of USD 1,657.50 (€ 1,494.19) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Toyokuni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo Period (1615-1868), Early 19Th Century in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 44,062.50 (€ 38,060.38).
