Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1800 by Utagawa Toyokuni was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Bonhams in New York in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,839.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Toyokuni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo Period (1615-1868), Early 19Th Century in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 44,062.50 (€ 38,060.38).
