This artwork by Utagawa Hiroshige II achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2021. In the Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection auction, the work Utagawa Hiroshige II (1826-1869) The Tsuten Bridge at Tofuku-ji Temple, Kyoto (Kyoto Tofuku-j iTsutenkyo), Edo period, 19th century sold for GBP 4,032.00 (€ 4,691.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Hiroshige II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Album comprenant 62 estampes de la série Shokoku meisho hyakkei (les cent vues célèbres des provinces) in June 2007 with an auction result of EUR 45,600.00.

Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Hiroshige II auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Album comprenant 62 estampes de la série Shokoku meisho hyakkei (les cent vues célèbres des provinces) im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 45.600,00.
