Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Automobile by Umberto Boccioni was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 32,760.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Umberto Boccioni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Forme uniche della continuità nello spazio (Unique Forms of Continuity in Space) in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 16,165,000.00 (€ 14,670,115.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Automobile von Umberto Boccioni im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 32.760,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Umberto Boccioni erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Forme uniche della continuità nello spazio (Unique Forms of Continuity in Space) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.165.000,00 (€ 14.670.115,26).
