Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Yamauba and Kintaro breaking open the Storehouse (Kura biraki) by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 3,528.00 (€ 4,208.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tsuki junidai (Twelve aspects of the moon) in September 2007 with an auction result of USD 241,000.00 (€ 169,491.53).
