Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in September last year. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work A Group of Six Woodblock Prints sold for USD 3,187.50 (€ 3,258.20) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tsuki junidai (Twelve aspects of the moon) in September 2007 with an auction result of USD 241,000.00 (€ 169,491.53).
