In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Tennoji Riko (The actor Yamashita Kinsaku II as the Maid Okane) by Toshusai Sharaku. The »bidding war« ended at USD 189,000.00 (€ 193,192.27), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Toshusai Sharaku - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an, which sold at auction in May 2018 for EUR 616,600.00.

Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Japanese and Korean Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Tennoji Riko (The actor Yamashita Kinsaku II as the Maid Okane) von Toshusai Sharaku zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 189.000,00 (€ 193.192,27) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Toshusai Sharaku mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für EUR 616.600,00 versteigert wurde.
