This artwork by Torii Kiyomasu II achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2001. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Torii Kiyomasu (fl.1690s-early 1720s) Sumizuri-e with hand-applied color and metallic powder, two actors as a courtesan and her lover seated in a garden, signed Torii Kiyomasu hitsu and published by Igaya--very good impression, generally good color, sold for USD 7,050.00 (€ 8,016.83) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by Torii Kiyomasu II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Edo Period (1615-1868), 1720S-1730S in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 37,575.00 (€ 33,465.44).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Torii Kiyomasu II erzielte im März 2001 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Torii Kiyomasu (fl.1690s-early 1720s) Sumizuri-e with hand-applied color and metallic powder, two actors as a courtesan and her lover seated in a garden, signed Torii Kiyomasu hitsu and published by Igaya--very good impression, generally good color, für USD 7.050,00 (€ 8.016,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 4.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Torii Kiyomasu II auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Edo Period (1615-1868), 1720S-1730S im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.575,00 (€ 33.465,44).
