Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work A squadron of ships of the Royal Navy's Mediterranean Fleet lying in Naples Bay during a courtesy visit to Naples by Tommaso de Simone for GBP 9,560.00 (€ 13,738.24). This price was achieved in the auction Boulle to Jansen: An Important Private European Collection at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Tommaso de Simone have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2004 by the work H.M.S. Exmouth signalling her arrival at Naples at USD 28,680.00 (€ 23,052.81).

Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Boulle to Jansen: An Important Private European Collection bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Andere Arbeiten von Tommaso de Simone wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Februar 2004 die Arbeit H.M.S. Exmouth signalling her arrival at Naples mit USD 28.680,00 (€ 23.052,81).
