Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Liberal defeat by Thomas McEwan was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,434.00 (€ 2,151.53). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas McEwan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In Time O'War, which sold at auction in August 2007 for GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,740.88).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Liberal defeat von Thomas McEwan im Mai 2004 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.434,00 (€ 2.151,53) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas McEwan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit In Time O'War beobachtet, die im August 2007 für GBP 4.560,00 (€ 6.740,88) versteigert wurde.
