Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Showa era (1926-1989) by Tokuriki Tomikichirō was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 701.25 (€ 598.44). Admittedly, works by Tokuriki Tomikichirō have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Seven woodblock prints in May 2021 with an auction result of GBP 2,772.00 (€ 3,225.29).
