Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Evocation of Love by Tim Davis was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 128.00 (€ 115.71). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tim Davis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Burger King, 2000 in May 2014 with an auction result of EUR 3,900.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Evocation of Love von Tim Davis im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 128,00 (€ 115,71) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tim Davis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Burger King, 2000 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 3.900,00.
