Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in Sydney held the auction THE JOHN SCHAEFFER COLLECTION AT RONA, which included the work A Portrait Medallion of William Charles Wentworth by Thomas Woolner. The price achieved of AUD 9,560.00 (€ 5,585.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Woolner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Roundel Of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, which sold at auction in July 2010 for GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,526.86).
