Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Woman by Thomas Wilmer Dewing was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 90,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 92,500.00 (€ 66,455.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Wilmer Dewing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The White Birch in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 1,810,000.00 (€ 1,625,505.16).
