Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Masters Online, which included the work A Ship From The East India Company, Said To Be 'Castle Eden', 818 Tons, On Her First Voyage by Thomas Whitcombe. Here, the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,567.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Whitcombe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A view of St. Helier, Jersey, with Elizabeth Castle beyond in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 132,500.00 (€ 190,278.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Masters Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Ship From The East India Company, Said To Be 'Castle Eden', 818 Tons, On Her First Voyage von Thomas Whitcombe zur Versteigerung kam.
