Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES, which included the work The Cromer Pilot Cutter No. 2 Running Out To Meet The New Arrival by Thomas Sewell Robins. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,173.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Sewell Robins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Studies of the cutter yacht Cygnet, one showing her beating Vision at the Southampton Regatta in 1848; the other with Cygnet winning the Queen's Cup at Cowes in 1849, a pair each 54 x 76.8cm (21 1/4 x 30 1/4in). (2) in October last year with an auction result of GBP 49,440.00 (€ 57,597.05).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Studies of the cutter yacht Cygnet, one showing her beating Vision at the Southampton Regatta in 1848; the other with Cygnet winning the Queen's Cup at Cowes in 1849, a pair each 54 x 76.8cm (21 1/4 x 30 1/4in). (2) im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 49.440,00 (€ 57.597,05).
