Upper estimate price exceeded by 27 %.
The work Hay Barges In Close Quarters Off The Coast by Thomas Sewell Robins was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours auction at Christies in London in September 2004. It achieved a price of GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,785.54), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 27%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Sewell Robins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Studies of the cutter yacht Cygnet, one showing her beating Vision at the Southampton Regatta in 1848; the other with Cygnet winning the Queen's Cup at Cowes in 1849, a pair each 54 x 76.8cm (21 1/4 x 30 1/4in). (2) in October last year with an auction result of GBP 49,440.00 (€ 57,597.05).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Studies of the cutter yacht Cygnet, one showing her beating Vision at the Southampton Regatta in 1848; the other with Cygnet winning the Queen's Cup at Cowes in 1849, a pair each 54 x 76.8cm (21 1/4 x 30 1/4in). (2) im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 49.440,00 (€ 57.597,05).
