This artwork by Thomas Martyn achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May last year. In the The Library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven Part I auction, the work Figures of plants, 1795, original botanical watercolours sold for GBP 22,680.00 (€ 26,680.86) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 9,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Martyn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Figures of plants, 1796, original botanical watercolours, which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 47,880.00 (€ 56,326.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Martyn erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven Part I wurde die Arbeit Figures of plants, 1795, original botanical watercolours für GBP 22.680,00 (€ 26.680,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 9.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Martyn mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Figures of plants, 1796, original botanical watercolours beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für GBP 47.880,00 (€ 56.326,26) versteigert wurde.
