Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Aranei, or a natural history of spiders, 1793, 2 parts in 1 volume by Thomas Martyn was sold in the The Library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven Part I auction at Sothebys in London in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,142.00 (€ 2,519.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Martyn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Figures of plants, 1796, original botanical watercolours in May last year with an auction result of GBP 47,880.00 (€ 56,326.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Aranei, or a natural history of spiders, 1793, 2 parts in 1 volume von Thomas Martyn wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven Part I bei Sothebys in London versteigert.
