Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2007 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel, which included the work Morning in the Valley of Aconcagua, Chile by Thomas Somerscales. The price achieved of GBP 31,700.00 (€ 45,455.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 40,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Somerscales have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View Of The Port And Bay Of Valparaíso, Chile in November 2008 with an auction result of USD 254,500.00 (€ 200,488.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel durch, in der auch die Arbeit Morning in the Valley of Aconcagua, Chile von Thomas Somerscales zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 31.700,00 (€ 45.455,47) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 25.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Somerscales auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit View Of The Port And Bay Of Valparaíso, Chile im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 254.500,00 (€ 200.488,42).
