Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A farmer and oxen fording the Aconcagua river, the Andes beyond by Thomas Somerscales was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2010. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,566.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Somerscales achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View Of The Port And Bay Of Valparaíso, Chile in November 2008 with an auction result of USD 254,500.00 (€ 200,488.42).
