Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still Life with Glass of Wine and Grapes on a Marble Ledge by Thomas Henry Hope was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,290.00 (€ 3,799.95). Admittedly, works by Thomas Henry Hope have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With Pipe And Bubbles in October 2015 with an auction result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,640.83).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still Life with Glass of Wine and Grapes on a Marble Ledge von Thomas Henry Hope im Februar 2002 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.290,00 (€ 3.799,95) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Henry Hope auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With Pipe And Bubbles im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.640,83).
